Sight Seeing
Sightseeing plans? Know that wherever you are in Bandung, all main places of interest are frequented by traffic. Count easily 1-2 hours driving to any volcano, waterfall, or even the city takes at least 1 hour.
We offer you here several inspirations with some side information for your preparations. Know that any need for local transport can be solved from the moment you arrive.
Saung Angklung
Pak Udjo, is a place on 40min drive from us. It’s a performance with children of traditional music, Angklung, dance and wayang performances, it’s every day, at about 15;00 and takes 1,5 hour.
Kawah Putih & Tea Gardens
1,5-2 hours drive south, on the mountain Patuha 2434 m area Ciwedey, Hight there is one of Bandung main krater sites, called Kawah Putih, white crater which is a white volcano lake in this active crater. Nice for a walk and to see, a bit further up the main road to the south there is a big tea estate, called ranca Bolang, Bali and or Upas.
Tangkuban Perahu
Tangkuban perahu, is located on a 1,5-2 hour drive north west from us, mostly you pass the city or ask our staff to send you the backroad through villages and an old colonial Kina garden or what’s left from it. The road is bad, small, steep, but interesting enough.Count then an extra hour. Tangkuban perahu itself is an enormous crater, deep and as you know they look like, smell of sulfer, many stalls with souvenirs on the edges. Good to make some walk, pictures and so on.
Take note, and this counts for any volcano and tea plantation or high area in the mountains, in rainy season clouds will come in early. Take a vest as it can be chilly up there later at the day.
City Tour
Bandung is an interesting city for those interested in colonial architecture and city planning. In the 1930’s Bandung was the most modern town in the Archipelago, and you can still see that on several buildings in the city. “Bandros Bandung” is a bus city tour, making a circle through town several times every day, departing from the centre, it’s easy to hop on, Jalan BRAGA BRAGA & SURROUNDINGS, 1 hour drive from us. It is the old heart of town, with many bars, restaurants, and people around there. A bit further is the big mosque and Jalan Asia Afrika, or the old “Ir Deandels” road, or” Groote Postweg”, with some interesting old buildings along.
Shopping Malls & Outlets
1 hour drive. As Bandung was called Paris of Java in the past, it has all to do with the modernity of the mode in town in that time 1930’s, still many “brand” factories are around Bandung and also because of that you can find many outlets in our City as well many big shopping malls there are. Mostly entertainment and must do for locals.
Kamojang Hot Spring Ciater
Kamojang Krater is the 3e closest crater around Bandung, 2 hours from us to the southeast. It’s a geiser and steam area. The steam is used to power electricity, which you can see. There are open wells and also a hot water bath where you can go in 24/7, nice and warm, 65 natural heated degrees, no sulfur like cister, not touristy at all. In the high mountains again. It has a “good” restaurant as well.
Following the main road, you go direction of Ciater, then you also pass a tea plantation. Ciater hotsprings is a touristique not a real nice place, for a warm bath, sulfur, watch your silver. Not alone and a massage, not so attractive if you ask me.
Floating Market Lembang
Floating Market Lembang is also in the same direction, but an overrated and over-the-edge man-made tourist attraction. More interesting in that same direction, Ciater, then could be the waterfalls called Curug Cisanca or Bentang, Mahpar area, Subang, close to the Ananas plantations, further direction Subang, all close to each other, and a nice walk around. Might you think it’s a long day out, maybe a good idea to combine these with a visit to one of the nice restaurants in Bandung on your way back home. The later you drive, the faster it goes regarding traffic.
Hiking Batu Kuda & Manglayang
Manglayang is the mountain with 2 tops where we are, halfway up at 950 m height, it’s still about 900m up more to the top at 1835 m. Batu Kuda, a 1-hour walk, is such a place where people start walking to the summit. But everywhere around us, you find pathways to make more moderate walks as well.
